Waves PR 2008 – Present
Freelance PR consultancy for both organisations directly, and for other PR consultancies.
Working with various technology, B2B and consumer clients in both traditional and social media spaces. UK Regional co-ordinator (one of two) for Twestival
Managing Director at Zed PR 1999 – July 2008
The UK’s first ethical PR consultancy, Zed PR grew from its initial role as a vehicle for freelance PR work. It established a great reputation, well beyond its size.
The PR team was hard working and enthusiastic, delivering amazing results for clients from health retreats to specialist scoliosis clinics on the health and wellbeing side; from IP telephony and contact centre technology to funky laptops on the technology and telecoms side; from eco-homes to interior designers on the house and home front; and several clinical health clients.
Main achievement: My team. With very few exceptions, anyone who has Zed PR on their CV will have worked hard, had fun, and delivered terrific results!
European PR Manager at Esprit Telecom 1998 – 2000
Co-ordinating PR across eight European territories, all at very different stages of development and in very different regulatory environments.
Main achievement: Increased coverage by 1000% by putting in place training, communication channels and easy processes.
PR Consultant at Arrow PR (now Kaizo), Bite Communications & Companycare PR 1994 – 1998
Public relations consultant across a variety of blue chip and entrepreneurial brands including Apple, Kodak, Oracle and cable content provider, Knowledge TV.
Achievements: Maintaining high levels of coverage for numerous clients. Turning around some ailing reputations. Early on-line PR engagement.
1993: PR placement at British Gas (Southern)
Life beforehand: started out in fashion industry, moved to marketing properties in Spain; paid for studies by running ice cream business in Menorca throughout the summer; oh, and wrote for local paper.
Degree: Latin American Studies, University of Southampton
(Started PhD on educational topic, Central America) – which explains the Latin American twist to some site content – and paid for it by editing an early html language learning resource at the University. Microcosm.)
