News: Reading Twitter festival set to benefit local charity

Local users of social networking website Twitter have come together to organise a ‘Twestival’ in aid of a local charity supporting bereaved children, gaining support from many local businesses in the process.

Reading, Berkshire 3/9/09 – On Thursday 10th September, local Twitter users will gather at MIX bar, Reading, for a charity festival designed to raise money for local charity Daisy’s Dream.

The event, described as “a ‘tweet-up’ with a social conscience” aimed at supporting local charities both by fundraising and increasing local awareness. This is one of many local ‘Twestivals’ – volunteer-run, fundraising events for people who know each other through the social networking website Twitter. This event is one of 155 such events happening around the globe.

The Reading Twestival is supporting local charity Daisy’s Dream, who offer advice and support for children, young people and their families, both facing and following bereavement. The event has received much support from local business, with Reading based web-hosting company DediPower providing gold level sponsorshDedipower_Logoip for the event.

DediPower’s CEO Craig Martin said “I’m delighted that DediPower are sponsoring Reading Twestival and helping Daisy’s Dream with their invaluable work with bereaved children”. Many other local businesses are contributing to the event by providing raffle prizes and support on the night.
