Online Job Searches on Increase

According to Hitwise, since England’s World Cup knock out, online  traffic to websites sites has increased as follows: banking (+23%), travel agencies (+11%) and employment (+23%).

I wasn’t initially convinced it was all the England game – the government announced its cutbacks at the same time.

However, the figures hold up across the technology sector as well it would seem:  the UK’s largest IT jobs site, The IT Job Board, www.theitjobboard.co.uk, has undertaken its own research. Comparing the week before and after the match, the site saw an 18 percent increase in natural traffic, a 10 percent rise in total site visits, a 20 percent increase in new CVs being uploaded to the site, and 25 percent of existing documents were updated.

Not quite sure what this tells us: people preparing for the storm ahead, or genuine movement in the market?
