3-5-0 in the rain at Pagham nature reserve
Claire Thompson, Waves PR
Determined to participate in
the weekend’s 350 events, we fixed a walk around Pagham nature reserve. In the event, it tipped down. Hard. The very best of UK weather.
But, even if the planned nature hunt couldn’t happen, a few of us braved it out and still managed to 3, 5 and 0 – perhaps not what we expected, but managed anyway.
Our picture isn’t beautiful, but it is important in sentiment. If sea levels rise through global warming, Pagham’s
unique environment will cease to exist. Within minutes of our arrival we had seen Slovenian grebes, little grebes, sandpipers and curlews, and these were just the birds that we could name.
In a caravan park next door I suspect most people without dogs were unaware of the amazing resource bang on their doorsteps, free to enjoy but critically endangered unless we all take action. Fast.
