Twestival: T Minus Ten!

twestival snap

In ten days time, across the World a chain of events will mark the start of Twestival, a series of events organised by enthusiastic volunteers to raise money for their local charities.

I volunteered to help as a regional co-ordinator for the UK, and like most of the people involved have got back far more than I have put in – in terms of contacts and relationships. My colleague, Nicola Riordan (@NicolaRiordan on Twitter), and I have been trying to support teams from Inverness to Cornwall, from Wales to Suffolk. as they shape events and choose charities to benefit from their skills this September.

The teams have been provided with tools such as ticketing by Amiando and blogs (also supported by volunteers). Causecast has checked that their chosen charities are bona fide.

Armed with a blog and social media tools, the teams have had to persuade companies, friends and family to give up time and energy to pull together for events that people will want to attend.

With just ten days to go, the buzz is getting louder. When Twestival kicks off on September 9, four days of fun, frolicks and, doubtless, organised chaos will ensue.

There’s really no excuse not to be part of it. The teams need volunteers to help organise. They need venues and entertainers. They need sponsors for drinks and goody bags. They need auction and raffle prizes. The need giveaways. They need cash for their charities. And they need us all to buy tickets to show them that their hard work has been recognised.

The site’s here: http:twestival.com. Find your local Twestival and give them your support. You won’t regret it!
