Even seemingly sensible (?) institutions like Mashable are giving credence to ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’.

I’m sceptical, having set the language an age ago on my Facebook account to Pirate. As a reward, I had the Devil’s own job reading any messages from friends on FaceBook, and it took a fair while to set back to English.

Down at the Waterside Centre today, scarcely a smile was raised at the mention of pirates.

(Can’t put a link in to the Waterside Centre, someone’s pirated their site with naughty things!)

Don’t want to be humbug though, especially with a name like Waves PR, so…

I be orf to pirate someone elses copyrighted stuff, loik a true salty sea dog – well, a wave surfin’ nair do well, anyhows.

Weak, but at least I tried!

I apologise profusely for being so ‘humbug’ about this event, and treating it with lipservice. I eat my own ‘landlubber’ words.

Last night central Reading’s standard fare of fairy-winged brides-to-be and ‘schoolgirl’ partiers was supplemented by some handsome pirate types, entering fully into the spirit of things.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day – I raise my neatly feathered Tricorn to you.
