New Award for Women of Substance
A survey undertaken by the publishers recently revealed that there are female celebrities out there that do merit our respect – although the ones that don’t get more publicity. Yet despite this, there is a lack of female role models . So it’s time to celebrate real women of substance.
The Taylor Bradford criteria for becoming a woman of substance are:
- Not letting anyone discourage you.
- Reinvention/ability to change with the times.
- Endurance – weathering the inevitable personal and professional hardships in life
Quite apart from the prizes up for grabs, we all know amazing women who deserve to be recognized for their contribution to our lives (and men, let it be said, but sorry, boys, this one’s for the girls). It is a chance to acknowledge wonderful women who have striven against the odds and made a difference in some kind of way.
And we all have just a few days until the 31st of this month (July) to nominate.
New charity, Target Ovarian Cancer, is benefiting – mainly from the publicity being generated, and there’s more information about them and about the awards to be found at http://www.targetovarian.org.uk/. (And a friend there asked me to spread the word.)
All you need to do to nominate is write a few paragraphs about why your chosen woman should win here.
Let’s hope they make lots of the nominees public. If the research is right, we badly need some good role models.
