The world getting smaller?

After Somesso, I was playing around with the idea that the world is getting smaller, not bigger, when it comes to marketing.

For example, if someone wants to catch my interest and tell me about something I may find interesting, they need to take a look at specific parts of my multifaceted identity:
- professional: PR
- status: mother (of two gorgeous little muckworms!)
- social: friend; loves dressing up and champagne (champagne taste, beer money – I’m self employed!)
- passions: Latin America; environment; travel and different cultures
- enjoy: music (happy pop, world music, live music); gadgets when they are easy to use; being with friends

We can’t possibly manage all of the huge amounts of information generated and heading our way. Which means we will look in niche places for this information. I suspect that Google Wave will have an impact on this, but I have my information second hand. (Thank you, Mashable).

Whilst thinking about it, I came across a video by Seth Godin whose ideas about tribes make sense to me. Some of it I don’t agree with. (Did we all have an untapped desire to communicate in 140/160 characters of abbreviated text? I doubt it, but when we saw what it could do, and how it connects us, we wanted it, oh so badly.) But mostly I do.
So here’s his video. Enjoy.
