The legendary Bath and British Lions rugby union prop, Gareth ‘Cooch’ Chilcott, will be delivering his verdict on matches as part of British & Irish Lions Tour using ipadio, the new service that allows people to broadcast live over the web from a phone – in Cooch’s case, his mobile.

Known as phlogging (phone blogging), Cooch’s notorious sense of humour is bound to shine through on the broadcasts.

He is following the tour with more than 2000 people travelling to South Africa with Gullivers Sport Travel, the official travel partners for the tour. ‘The Fun Bus’, English former rugby union prop forward Jason Leonard, and Welsh rugby hero Phil Bennett are expected to join him for parts of the tour, so the phlogs are expected to be colourful and entertaining.

In addition to appearing on the ipadio site (www.ipadio.com), where people can follow his phlogs, they will appear on the Gullivers site.  They will mostly be post match round ups and verdicts, delivered in his own, inimitable style.

“We’re right behind the British & Irish Lions,” said Mark Smith, CEO, ipadio. “Rugby fans are encouraged to join in and deliver their own verdicts through ipadio, which is free to consumers at www.ipadio.com. We’ll put the best one on the front page!”

A freephone number is available to use ipadio in South Africa: 08009-82041.

Notes to editors

Journalists wanting to try out ipadio for a corporate website should contact our press office and we would be delighted to organise this for you. The embed code generated with each phlog (phone blog) can be posted to the majority of blogs and websites.
